Keeping it real, keeping in touch.
Two weeks of distance learning were very intensive for all of us, and in reality it was a huge and rapid challenge that has passed so quickly. And now, when we look back, we can say, that we are not the same as we were two weeks ago…
We would like to thank our parents for their understanding and patience with the current situation and the new format of distance learning. We are also grateful to parents for their feedback, suggestions for improvement and constructive dialogue.
Many of us have mastered new IT programmes and become more IT friendly. Some teachers are looking at their teaching with new perspectives and demonstrating their skills publicly - and it is also a challenge! We would like to thank our Principals - Ms. Jeanne and Mr. Stephen for their encouraging words on social media, our primary school teachers – Mr. Edward and Mr. Richard – for sharing their teaching experience, Ms. Bota and Ms. Aizat for demonstrating their lessons and the support of the national challenge #Abay175.
We are also very grateful to our homeroom teachers who supported the idea of “Reader Challenge”, thus we want to draw our audience’s attention to reading books and self-development. The Student Council will develop this challenge further and invite our sister schools and our friends’ schools for participation. Two more Student Council initiatives: “Miras Bingo” and “Superhero” have already started and are in action on our school Instagram page. A big thanks to Ms. Elvira for guiding and supervising our students on these projects.
The school psychologists’ service will provide students, parents and teachers with different positive activities throughout the week via social media. This week together with Ms. Nina and homeroom teachers our psychologists will conduct Miras School’s traditional action “Spring Kaleidoscope, using the Teams programme – a new approach, in the new digital, distance format.
We would like to see more ideas shared, and they may be connected with upcoming events: Earth Day (22nd April), Unity Day (1st May) and a very important one - Victory Day!
All we need is to be patient, wait for the situation to improve and look for new possibilities as “When one door closes before you, another other one will definitely open”. It is the time for optimism - to see and find opportunities in every difficulty situation. And that is what most of us do. We are confident that together we will overcome this situation with honor!
As adults we need to think carefully of our children, who can be scared of every day statistics with the increased number of Corona casualties and fatalities accompanied by frightening music on TV and media, who see and hear how lost and frustrated their parents look.
I would kindly remind all adults to be kind, friendly and supportive to children as they need our love and encouragement more than ever. Quarantine will finish and we all, having become stronger, more knowledgeable and experienced, will continue living in peace and enjoying life.
I wish health to you, your families and friends.
Respectfully yours,
Adema Kasseinova
Dean of students
